Wordle HW assignment

Hi everyone,

Your homework for Wednesday is to find a newspaper article on the topic of your choice.  Then, you will create a word cloud for this article to identify key words.

http://www.wordle.net/

You will then bring in a copy of the word cloud, as well as a summary that you write on the main ideas of the article.  The summary should be about 150 words.

In class on Wednesday, you will switch word clouds and try to write a summary of your partner's article.  Then we will compare the summaries and see how accurate they are!

Also, to develop topical vocabulary, please identify at least 3 new vocabulary words related to your topic, and their meaning.  Please bring these to class.

Have a great weekend everyone!

See you Wednesday!

Questionnaire Presentations

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to remind you of the presentation assignment for Wednesday.  The HW is to finalize your questionnaire and give it to 15 people.  Then, use their responses to analyse and present on Wednesday.

The presentation should be done as a group and about 5-7 minutes long.  Every group member should speak.  Power point is optional but some chart or graphic would be useful to present your results.

Presentations should include:

  • a presentation of data collected
  • any significant or suprising data
  • an analysis of trends within the data
  • reflection on the efficiency and design of your questionnaire
Good luck and see you all on Wednesday!

Questionnaire Design HW Assignment

Hi everyone,

Here is the assignment for next wednesday.  Remember to work as a group and come to class on Wednesday prepared with your first draft of your questionnaire.

Assignment:

Design a questionnaire for a topic of your choosing. Try to have at least 15 questions in your questionnaire.  Remember to keep aware of the focus of your research when designing the questionnaire.  We will test pilot the results on Wednesdsay with the other members of our class.

The general structure should be as follows:
  • Title
  • A brief introduction as to the purpose of your research and why you chose this topic.
  • Personal information section if relevant (ie: sex, age, occupation, etc)
  • The survey questions
  • A final thank you
Let me know if you have any questions.  Please try to have a typed copy of your group's questionnaire.

Good luck and have a great weekend.  See you all next week!
